Compared with Jessica and Amber, I live in the Korean countryside. While only about 35 miles from Seoul, it sometimes seems like light years on my weekend runs when I can run for miles without seeing anything other than cabbage fields and elderly hikers resting on brightly painted benches. We are primarily surrounded by agrarian farmland and livestock farms. The woman who cuts my hair told me that our town just got a train station five years ago. On the rare occasions when I do take the train, I often wait for 20 to 30 minutes for a train to actually stop there. In the meantime, I see scores of express trains and the KTX bullet train speeding by our station, heading for the larger cities.
