Year Three, Week Thirty-five – Bethany

War Memorial

Though we have lived here for over two years, my husband and I had yet to visit the War Memorial of Korea. It seemed apt that we visit it this weekend in honor of Memorial Day. Upon arrival, there is a long outdoor hallway where the walls are filled with the names of American and UN soldiers who died during the Korean War. In front of each plaque was a single (slightly wilted from the heat) white flower. I don’t know if the flowers are there every day, or just for the holiday weekend, but I was touched to see that the time had been taken to honor the fallen.
