An afternoon in Myeongdong turned amusing, and then slightly terrifying as a Korean celebrity made an appearance at a hat store. (The sign can tell you who it is perhaps, but I can’t.) While walking down the street, my husband and I witnessed a large group of people screaming and taking pictures. We walked slightly closer, and my husband was able to see a young Korean woman surrounded by body guards walk into a store. We were suddenly part of a mob of star-struck people. A couple hundred people were elbowing and shoving their way down the street, and we were in the middle of it trying to get out. I had never truly understood how people could be trampled to death in a crowd; someone would stop and help them up, right? With the momentum of a few hundred people, there is no stopping… unless you really want a picture for your blog.
