Year Three, Week Twenty-Eight – Leah

I walked into work in the morning and saw these hard working women at a distance, squatting around a clump of trees, doing the same they’re doing here. Maybe weeding?
This was on my lunch break. They were still squatted and hard at work but in a different location in front of the school, dressed in the true fashion of the elderly in Korea – bright colors and heavy sun protection.
It is not uncommon to find people squatting in Korea and I admire their flexibility. While working, while smoking, while selling something, while eating, etc. It seems to be a position of comfort even at a late age (maybe especially at a late age) and, as far as I know, it is a common practice in several Asian countries (China for sure also).
You gonna be there for a while? Take a squat.
