Year Two, Week Fourty-seven – Jessica

Mugunghwa or Rose of Sharon blooms from July through October, so we’re deep in the heart of the season.  This is South Korea’s national flower and does it ever put on a show!  In Korean the name means “immortal flower” and indeed I have read that it is a very hearty, long lasting plant.  Since the Korean peninsula has a pretty rough history, it seems to make sense that Korean would pick this as a symbol of their country.
