Year Two, Week Nineteen—Amber

Today is Seollal, or Lunar New Year. Most businesses are closed and like Chuseok, there is a mass exodus out of the city and into the country. Coworkers and family members give each other small gifts, like this one my husband received from a coworker. You really can’t get more Korean than chocolate shaped like kimchi pots and filled with soju. Unless the gift happens to be Spam. I saw a man this week in an apartment building pushing a cart FULL of spam gift sets. He turned the corner before I could whip my camera out to capture it!
