Year Two, Week Thirteen—Amber

soup

Koreans take the term “family style” eating to a new level. “Double dipping” is allowed and encouraged here. Many meals are served in one large serving dish with a lot of different spoons or chopsticks to use to eat from that one dish. I guess they figure the spices in the food will kill all of the germs? On this cold cold night, a piping hot bowl of fish broth soup (I think? Who knows.) was a great appetizer to some of the street food we bought in the market. Our visiting friend who shared the soup with us was treated not only to yummy food, but our germs as well. 🙂
