I went along with my husband to his favorite salon (above Home Plus) to get his long-overdue haircut. While I smirked at him getting pampered and plumphed with cotton fluff, I was fascinated to see a lady getting a perm. As a kid, I had lots of perms = painful rollers + stinky chemicals, so I was surprised that this perm (a) didn’t smell and (b) included electrodes (!!). Happily, wikipedia explained that “digital perms” are common in Asia and use heat (monitored by a computer, of course) in addition to chemicals to curl the hair. And my husband’s cut? He ended up looking like a greying misfit in a Korean boy-band.
