Year Two, Week Twenty-three – Jessica

2-23

I had the opportunity to go to the DMZ (Demilitarized Zone) this week with a group of American soldiers and airmen.  I’d been wanting to for a long time and the opportunity finally came.  Yay for Saturday tours and a kid who finally turned 10 and is finally old enough to go!  I’m still trying to wrap my brain around the experience.  I had a heavy feeling in my stomach all day.  It’s just a very sad thing what has happened and what is happening.  I don’t think about war or a country divided on a daily basis, despite living a mere 40 kilometers from the demarcation line.  I probably should.

  • Sherri - Ah…. Yet another stunning photo… I aspire to your eye for color, light, and composition… 🙂ReplyCancel

  • Dina Farmer - I couldn’t imagine bringing my child there. Only because he is still a toddler. I think would have left him home for that day. That must have been really hard, but it’s good that you went there to at least experience it.ReplyCancel

  • Bethany - I love the vibrant color in this picture; it’s such a stark contrast to the reality of the situation. Great picture!ReplyCancel

  • Cindy - I agree with Sherri…stunning!ReplyCancel
