Year Two, Week Twenty-Two – Cindy

We spent last Sunday exploring the Seoul Folk Flea Market under the guidance of some pretty savvy flea marketers; it was clear they knew just where to find great items and I counted myself lucky to get the tour. The site is enormous with so much to plunder and browse through (and plenty of old junk to bypass). My favorite purchase of the day was an old Korean blanket chest with heavy ornate hardware and a butterfly lock and key. My poor husband had to lug around a rice chest I found until he got clever and bought a little folding cart off of one vendor for couple of won…seems pretty much anything is for sell. So with a free hand, I loaded him up again with a wooden water pitcher and other great treasures. It was such a fun adventure!

  • Amber - I still need to go here!ReplyCancel

  • Angela - I need more info on this, where is it located? I used to go to ‘recycle shops’ all the time in Japan and ended up with some really cool stuff, but haven’t found anything like that here. We’re leaving soon and I am seriously lacking in the authentic Korean souvenirs!ReplyCancel
